DOHI’s latest newsletter

Dear friend,

This Christmas, Agneta and I are busy preparing gifts to put under the tree for our friends and family, our children, our granddaughter Ava, and even our grand-dog, Harley, who will also get a Christmas gift! Yet, so many children are not as fortunate and blessed as my family.

My heart goes out to the hurting children in other countries. This is why every Christmas we focus on
bringing Christ’s love and hope to abandoned children, orphans, and suffering families who are less fortunate.

Four siblings are facing a cold and lonely Christmas this year. Their parents divorced, remarried and abandonded them. Grandma tried her best to take care of them but could no longer feed them and brought them to the orphanage. Yeshmayal, Abimayal, Himayeel, and Smile, abandonded by everyone they loved, felt unloved and unseen by God.

At the orphanage, they found a little joy and will soon be enrolled at the Christian school.

Still, inside they are hurting little children.

I know how it feels. As a small boy in Bulgaria I was often overwhelmed with hunger, sadness, and tears.

But at Christmas time, I remember the joy of receiving a parcel from abroad, addressed especially to me. One year, a Christian lady inserted a small note, telling me that I was loved and that “Jesus had not forgotten me!”

Whatever sadness I felt was instantly erased.

There are 150 children in the Christian orphanage in Pakistan that we would like to bless this Christmas. Christmas… there is no greater day to tell hurting children “Jesus loves You!” Many of the children need new clothes; warm sweaters, socks and blankets to keep them warm during winter. Yeshmayal, Abimayal, Himayeel, and Smile are really looking forward to getting new uniform sweaters and having a big Christmas pageant – something they’ve never experienced before! There are many more children under our care in other countries like Bulgaria, Greece, and Syria that need some love and care.

In Bulgaria, Teresa, our DOHI volunteer, writes:

This Christmas, my friend Roza, who was discarded as a baby into a garbage can by her mother, was rescued and grew up in an orphanage, will join our team. We will be handing out gift packets of food and warm clothing to kids living in buildings without electricity and running water.

Roza, once forgotten and unloved, is taking the love of Jesus to children who feel forgotten and unloved. Roza says “Thank you for caring!”

Children around the world need to know why we celebrate Christmas. They need to hear that Jesus loves them!

Will you bless a hurting child this Christmas?

Will you give them a special Christmas gift to unwrap?

Your generous act of kindness will bring warmth, love and hope to children like Yeshmayal, Abimayal, Himayeel, and Smile!

This Christmas, as you wrap a child in love… May Jesus wrap you in His warm embrace!

Merry Christmas from my family to yours!

Paul, Agneta, Christopher, Christina, Stefen, Roux, Ava, and all the DOHI Staff

P.S. I am so thankful that God sees the little ones, the hurting and forgotten children. May He bless YOU and ME for seeing them too!
