Christian College Group Leaders Sentenced to Jail in China

DOHI NEWS

Two leaders with the Christian Youth Fellowship, ministering to college students in the city of Hefei, China, were recently handed out prison terms. Mu En, 35 and father of two, was sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment, and Wang Yinuo, 33 and single, to three years.

The Hefei Christian Youth Fellowship blipped onto the CCP’s radar when the group of only a dozen students in 2018 quickly grew to several hundred over the course of a few short years.

As a result, authorities informed Wang that his fellowship would have to join the Three-Self Church – comprised of roughly 60,000 “legal” churches under the strict control of the CCP which appoints their pastors and leaders.

When Wang refused, Chinese police raided one of the fellowship’s house churches in September 2022. Reportedly, 84 believers were arrested, along with Wang and Mu. Most of the 84 arrested were released.

Official charges against Wang and Mu state that they committed “fraud” since their “illegal” religious organization collected money from members. The fraud charges are backed by signed statements from several fellowship members who, most likely under duress, claimed to have been cheated and manipulated to donate money to the organization.
